Optimistic, Happy Portfolio Design

Description

So in my independent living course, we were given the task of decorating our portfolios with HAPPY things, OPTIMISTIC things, things that showed our independence and hardworking natures as human beings.  Things that inspired us!  Things that made us smile!

I drew this.

...I doubt I need to spell out the fact that it was rejected, and I now have to decorate a totally new portfolio not yet defiled by my touch.  (LOL)  It was too dark, depressing, and creepy to even come close to matching what the course themes were all about.  Luckily, my teacher was nice and let me keep it, instead of throwing it into the trash.  I drew this with a pen, by the way.

In my defense, the teacher (Kathy) instructed us to draw the first things that came to mind, so that's what I did.  Actually, she wasn't even specific about what she was looking for until I had most of this done already.  Oops.

Oh well.  Creative criticism is welcome.

I'm curious if you ignored her altogether or if you really added elements to this that brought you peace or happiness in some manner? I ask because if someone asked me to do the same project, I'd be drawing things that other people wouldn't find particularly optimistic.

I think you drew strength. You're standing on a symbolic hill of hope, faith, what have you, and you haven't given up. You haven't laid down to die when the wolves, (wolves?) whatever they may represent, were coming for you.

I love your drawing here. Dark and thought-provoking and I am glad she let you keep it.
